So much to do so lil time!
So Christmas happened. I finally got a wii u! been playing a lot of smash and Mario kart on it. Got a few other games for the wii u also. Got some more yarn but have put crochet on hold because I just remembered I have an audition on the 9th of January and want it to be flawless. The struggles of being a music major. Oh and im also continuing with my three manga ideas I got afew years ago. Black Heart is about a reaper who lost his memory, Perfect Harmony is about musical instruments that dual as weapons, and Shadows is about three girls that discover a different dimension filled with magical beings. I have worked out a lot of the story for each of them and also all of the character designs. just gotta put em all together. Sooo much to do but itll all work out in the end... hopefully... Sorry to all those wanting more crocheting, I am literally the slowest crocheter in the world. Right now I got a hypno almost done and a sandslash that needs sewing together, then I want to start on a scolipede!(also want to do its pre-evolutions as well)

Bending Crochet Tubes
Here is just a quick little method I came up with to make crochet tubes bend. If you have an easier way or just another way completely please share. You could just crochet two separate tubes together but I absolutely HATE sewing crochet pieces together. The pattern works best when there is an even number of stitches but its not the end of the world with odd numbers.
Lets assume you have 36 stitches in a round. Half of the round is going to be half double crochets and the other is going to be slip stitches, each half is connected with a single crochet. So for 36 stitches you would slip stitch 17, sc 1, hdc 17, sc 1. if you have an odd number just get rid of a slip stitch. The more times you do this the more the tube angles. It can be quite difficult to get into the slip stitches so what I like to do is get a smaller hook to pull up the loop. My favorite crochet hook to use with worsted weight is a 3.75mm and for the slip stitches a 2.25mm. I put the 2.25 in the slip stich, pull up a loop, take the hook out, put the 3.75 back in, then slip stitch so the stitches stay consistent. Its very simple but so effective.
Hope this helps all you out there!

This curve was achieved with only three rows of my method. 10 points to who ever can tell me which Pokemon this arm belongs to!! |

Eyes were
whip stitched and I know Masquerain has white spots along the curved edge of its
large wings I was just too lazy to whip stitch them on when I took the picture.
If anything
is unclear please do not hesitate to inform me.
Note: Since I
made this Masquerain pattern years ago, I have been needle felting. So you could just
needle felt the mask and eyes and for the large wings make the first half of rounds
the center color and then change to the outer most color for the rest of the
wings then just needle felt the white spots and middle band of white. Also, playing
with a Masquerain in my party in Omega Ruby and having a full 3d model of it, I
realized that Masquerain has a large white dot on its back so I forgot that
tiny detail but it is an easy fix. Just make a MR of 6 or needle felt it on.
Sorry, this is the only pic I have. I quickly made it today and gave it to a friend already. |
here we go!
So now that I have more time to focus on this blogging thing, I can now give you guys some content! whoop whoop! I will post a pattern I quickly threw together a few years ago for the Pokemon Masquerain. Oddly enough, he is proving to be quite useful in my Omega Ruby elite four team. His moves are air slash, stun spore, bug buzz, and bubble beam. I just caught one with mud shot instead of bubble beam so I may trade them out, not sure yet. I will post Masquerain's pattern in just a bit then more as we go along. Do not worry though, I will post more about my video gaming as well as my crocheting and even possibly about my life as a college student.
